List announcement categories

GET /v1/announcements/categories

Returns category strings grouped into important and not_important, aligned with the announcement importance flag used by GET /v1/announcements?important=true. See the category reference below for descriptions of each category.

When to use it

Use this endpoint to keep category pickers synchronized with the API catalog and to separate material corporate events from routine filings.

Authentication and billing

Requires X-API-Key or api_key.
Credit cost: Free. Non-billable catalog route.

Request

This endpoint does not require a request body.

Category reference

Drishti classifies BSE and NSE corporate announcements into one primary category and zero or more related_categories. Use these labels with the categories filter on GET /v1/announcements.

related_categories uses the same category labels, except it never includes Others and never repeats the primary category.

Important categories

These categories are material event categories used by the announcement pipeline's important-announcement flag. They are returned in data.important.

Category	Description
Change in Management	Appointment, resignation, or change of CEO, CFO, directors, or key management personnel.
Dividend	Dividend declaration, payment details, or record-date disclosure.
Litigation	Legal disputes, litigation, or arbitration involving the company.
Penalty	Regulatory fines, penalties, or enforcement actions.
Reduction of Stake	Promoters or major shareholders reducing their stake.
Capex/Expansion	Capital expenditure, expansion plans, or capacity increases.
Issue of Securities	Issuance of equity shares, bonds, debentures, or similar securities.
Offer for Sale (OFS)	Offer for Sale disclosures by promoters or other eligible sellers.
Acquisition	Acquisition of a company, business, undertaking, stake, or assets.
Buyback	Share buyback announcements.
Rights Issue	Rights issue announcements.
Conversion of Warrants	Conversion of warrants or similar instruments into equity.
Redemption of Securities	Redemption or repayment of securities.
De-listing	De-listing of shares.
Demerger	Demerger or business-separation disclosures.
Merger	Merger or amalgamation disclosures.
Award/Receipt of Order	Receipt of a business contract, project award, or order.
Incident/Accident	Industrial accidents or material operational incidents.
Stock Split	Stock split or face-value change announcements.
Joint Venture	Formation of a joint venture.
Liquidation/Insolvency	Insolvency, bankruptcy, liquidation, or related proceedings.
Incorporation of Subsidiary	Incorporation of a new subsidiary.
Intimation of proposal of IPO of Subsidiary	Proposal or intimation for a subsidiary's IPO.
Regulatory Approval	Regulatory approvals, permissions, or clearances.
Partnership	Strategic partnership, collaboration, or similar business arrangement.
Divestment	Divestment or sale of assets, businesses, or subsidiaries.
Outcome of Board Meeting	Board meeting outcomes where no more specific action dominates.
Investor Presentation	Investor presentation or investor deck.
Annual Report	Annual report filings that are not better classified as another event.
Bonus Issue	Bonus issue announcements.
Media Release of Financial Results	Press or media release of financial results with figures and no other dominant action.
Unaudited Financial Results	Unaudited financial results with figures and no other dominant action.

Not important categories

These are valid announcement categories, but they are not part of the important-only filter set. They are returned in data.not_important.

AGM/EGM	Annual or extraordinary general meeting notices, proceedings, or related disclosures.
Change in company name	Change in the company's registered or listed name.
Company Update	General company update that does not fit a more specific material-event category.
Concall	Past conference-call transcript, recording, summary, or outcome details.
Corp Action	Corporate-action disclosure that does not map to a more specific action category.
Credit Rating	Credit rating assignment, reaffirmation, revision, withdrawal, or update.
ESOPs	Employee stock option plan grants or updates.
GST Payment	GST demand, payment, order, or related matter.
Income Tax	Income-tax matters or related proceedings.
Meeting Intimation	Intimation of a future meeting, such as a board meeting or conference call.
Monitoring Agency Report	Monitoring agency, trustee, or similar utilization reports.
Newspaper Publication	Regulatory or compliance disclosure enclosing newspaper advertisements, with no independent material update.
Others	Fallback when the filing does not clearly fit a specific category.
Regulatory Authority Inspection	Regulatory inspection, audit, or inspection-related update.
